Wizard helps you select the best credit card reward program

credit cardsRegular readers know I'm an outspoken advocate of owning and operating one and only one credit card. Having only one credit card in your wallet is good not only one of the best things you can do for your credit score, but it also helps you to keep expenses under control and greatly simplifies your record keeping tasks.

One of the problems I found about limiting my credit card accounts to only one was how to choose that single credit card account. In my case, I had multiple cards, so I had to decide which ones to drop. I had a lot of trouble deciding which one to keep. In the end I decided to scrap all of them and start from scratch. I opened up my web browser and started hunting through all the credit card sites I could find to narrow the field of candidates to just a few, and finally to the one, that I would apply for and use as my personal credit card.

As I conducted my search I was amazed to learn the sheer volume of offers out there. My criteria were fairly simple. I didn't care much for rates because I always pay off my credit card balance every month. Balance transfers and other niceties didn't matter to me. What I really wanted to know was how much I'd get back in rewards or points or whatnot from my spending.

What I really needed, but didn't realize at the time, was an Online Credit Card Rewards Wizard - a web based tool that would allow me to input my spending levels for various types of things such as groceries, gasoline, travel and electronics - and give me back a prioritized list of credit cards which would best reward me for my particular lineup of spending habits.

And that's exactly what the Online Credit Card Rewards Wizard does for you. Check this screen grab:

This is the input screen. All you have to do is approximate and input your regular spending amounts into the various categories listed. When you click the button to submit your inputs, the wizard cross references your spending habits with its database of credit card rewards programs and provides a listing of the best credit cards for your particular situation. If you see something in the list that looks like a good candidate - and you invariably will because they're all in that list because they're good candidates - all you need to do is hover your mouse over the name of the credit card and a summary of that card's benefits will appear:

I don't know what could be easier than that for narrowing down the daunting array of choices for credit cards out there. I wish I had had this tool when I selected my current credit card.

If you're thinking about revisiting your credit card account selection, as I am, I'd recommend you have a look at what this tool can offer. Its potential as a time saver alone was enough for me to agree to write this review for it. I'm not affiliated with the owners or operators of this site at all. Aside from my agreement to write up this review, which I probably would have done for free, I have no relationship with them whatsoever.

One last thing. The credit cards reward wizard is absolutely free.
